I would think it is quite a bit more risky to taze a child that is still developing and growing. Just as it would be with an elderly person.

That's one thing. A smaller animal is more susceptible to shock than a larger one. Not counting that, if she was tasered and it causes her to fall, what could happen with the knife. At least mace would be temporary, unlike a knife in the heart.

I don't believe that Paul is trying to come across as a bad ass, but rather that HE has control (disciplines) of his son and has been around other kids that will react to an adult with fear of discipline when they are acting up. The kids that have some type of discipline in their life won't react like that girl that had to be tazed. No sense in trying to armchair that situation because none of us were there, but it seems a bit over the top, though when police are involved nothing surprises me anymore...

Come on dude. I'm sitting next to an 8 yr old As I type this. While I can certainly take an asswhipping as good as I can give one, the fact you would think I am flexing nuts over taking a knife away from an 8yr old is laughable. I've been stabbed before by a grown man, 5 times. When people are scared to discipline children they turn into shitty adults. I was raised to know the difference between right and wrong, and while I still fuck up plenty my intentions are good. And just send a SASE for the autograph. Postage might be a lot coming from California where I imagine many folks share your thought process.

Then dont sign up to be a police officer. Their job comes with risk...some try to avoid said risk with the mindset of "getting home at all costs."

But I agree. If you cannot disarm and 8yr old without getting injured, then you should probably not be in law enforcement.
