I love manuals, but it'll likely be a long time before I own another. I'm currently way too spoiled by being able to program all aspects of shifting, converter lockup, etc.
the vehicles I mess with are WAY quicker with an auto and the autos are MUCH stronger and more reliable
but I do love the visceral feel of a true three-pedal manual car
they are essentially obsolete at this point

Far from useless and a toy...but you are correct that it's not used 95% of the time.Originally posted by white trash wagon View PostIf it doesn't have 3 pedals, it's not a manual transmission. Paddle shifters are useless toy, that 95% of the time are never used after the first week of ownership.

Haha.. Eating noodles is one of the few times I prefer to use chop sticks. They work great for that. You don't cut the noodles first, you pick up a load of noodles, shove one end into your mouth and bite down to sever the rest of the noodles, allowing them to fall back to the plate. Way easier than the fork and spoon spaghetti trick.Originally posted by Chopped54 View PostChop Sticks!!!
We eat Thai every Friday at lunch, have for a couple years. I can usually pick out the douche bags as they come in that are going to pick up the fucking things. They sit there and try to impress someone by using them while they make the rest of their party wait for them to fumble around with them. Even seen them go as far as to use a fork to cut up their noodles and place in a nice pile then swap back to the chop sticks.
I want to rip the damn things out of their hands and stab them in the fucking ear hole with it!!!
Haha, the same response can be used regarding chop sticks!Originally posted by SS Junk View PostJust because you never learned how to use one effectively doesn't mean the rest of the population should suffer from your bush-league driving skills.

For commuting I totally agree, but they are so much more effective than a traditional manual or automatic for aggressive driving. Admittedly more so on a turning track than in the straight-line, but hardly "useless" for those that use them.Originally posted by white trash wagon View PostIf it doesn't have 3 pedals, it's not a manual transmission.
