Its like cars double every 10-12 years. There is no way in hell im paying that much for a car. I want the 90s car values back.

I remember my dad buying a brand new 88 LX 5.0 for right around $10K. I blame the price increase on Obama!Originally posted by Chili View PostThey've gotten pretty high.. I've never purchased a new car, and I never will. I'd rather buy private, save money on all the "documentation fees" and other fluff like that.
I've been to a few stealerships looking at used cars (just to look) and I've hated it each time. Freaking vultures sitting outside smoking and waiting for fresh meat to show up. Private Party FTW.

Actually you can blame it on Obama since without low interest rates no one would pay 35K for a Mustang GT.Originally posted by Jose View PostI remember my dad buying a brand new 88 LX 5.0 for right around $10K. I'm voting for whatever president has plans to lower new car prices. To hell with minimum wage hikes, lower the prices of consumer goods so us poor working folk can afford to ball out of control. I haven't been able to afford buying a new truck every year since 2004.

The one Grapevine was selling with that price was pretty much loaded with every single option. A low option car should still be in the low 30's. Which is pretty high for no options, but it's still not 45k for a Mustang GT high.

which is what I was getting atOriginally posted by War Machine View PostIn the sales manager defense, maybe he knew you could afford one, but knew you weren't going to buy one. Hence going to the other dealer, driving one, and not buying

On my '01 C5, '08 C6, '10 ZR1, and '12 CTS-V, I never even drove them before buying. Some may call me crazy, but I did the research and I'm a big car nut, so I knew what I wanted. I negotiated via email/phone, walked in, did the deal, and drove off. I haven't been disappointed yet.Ford

You know, it's not liking you were buying a new Chevy Volt or something. Kind of hard to go wrong with those. I did drive a new CTS coupe though and really liked it, but went another direction instead.Originally posted by quikag View PostOn my '01 C5, '08 C6, '10 ZR1, and '12 CTS-V, I never even drove them before buying. As usual, I am just being facetious. I did mention it to the guy at the counter that I thought they put them behind the counter to keep all of the greasy- finger wrench monkeys from messing up all of the books. It seems like half of them are opened and jacked up from people using them as a library.Originally posted by JC316 View PostFunny since they offer free repair guides online. I love my autozone, I've had the employees open a manual just to see what part I was talking about.

There was a base 2015 GT (cloth seats, etc) at GVF in Race Red with the Performance Package (strut tower brace, k-member brace, larger radiator, 3.73s, Torsen differential, 6-piston Brembos up front, 19x9 wheels, better gauges) that stickered for $35k.Originally posted by talisman View PostThe one Grapevine was selling with that price was pretty much loaded with every single option. I was honestly tempted. When the government pays, the government controls.
