Everybody needs a prenuptial agreement. People think you gotta be rich to get a prenup ... ohhhhhh no. So you got $20 million and your wife wants $10 milliion, big deal, you ain't starving. But if you make $30,000 ... and your wife wants $15,000 ... you might have to kill her.Originally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

You have never been divorced?Originally posted by Craizie View PostIf I ever get married I will not get a divorce. I'll have an accidental discharge before some twat gets half my shit.
The rule is half of everything, and the half of your half. I'm paraphrasing from the judge, and it means just that. If you're divorced in TX and you get 25% of the community stuff, you did ok. If she gets less than 75%, you had a good lawyer, and you likely paid a fortune to him.

Eh, didn't say he was good, she could've got more....but that would be bullshit anyway. She got plenty. Then she appeals it? Cha-Ching again.Originally posted by Sean88gt View PostNot really lucky at all. From the settlement standpoint, he sounds like a shitty attorney. Yeah, he got fucking paid, but the economic model is one that any divorced man would love to adhere to.
I just meant that no matter how the settlement is viewed, he got fuckin paid.

tap your brakes on the shitty attorney. what are your qualifications to call someone a shitty attorney on a billion dollar settlement? you and i both know there are plenty of dynamics going on that will never see the light of day.Originally posted by Sean88gt View PostNot really lucky at all. The State of Texas, on your behalf. Your divorce says she gave it to you, not that you had any right to a penny more than 25%, you know, "half".Originally posted by Forever_frost View PostIn my divorce I kept all of my stuff without an issue. Who gives away half?sigpic18 F150 Supercrew - daily

I was speaking specifically to his point about luck and looking at economic models. When everyone was saying 50%, $1b doesn't even touch 10%. And you're right, there is a lot at play, especially when other attorneys were saying she was looking at $9-11b.Originally posted by broke again View Posttap your brakes on the shitty attorney. what are your qualifications to call someone a shitty attorney on a billion dollar settlement? you and i both know there are plenty of dynamics going on that will never see the light of day.

It is a lot, but she wasn't just some short term trophy wife either. They were married 26 years, had kids together, and didn't have a prenup. She also didn't just sit around the house welping his brats, she ran Continental's marketing department for some years. She has some rights to claim that her position and work had influence on the value of her husband's company.Originally posted by Sean88gt View PostI was speaking specifically to his point about luck and looking at economic models.
