If the salvage is high, they want that number. Seeing as we will get that for the engine and cores, sure, we'll pay that at auction. Lsx stuff is higher than pushrod ford stuff, but I may be surprised.

You ain't shittin. I sold an engine out of a car and happened to know some about the unit, we made 200 plus on just the engine, and still had core values, trans, etc to sell.

Right now, we're leaning on buying it back and parting it out. Depending on how much they give us, we'll either look for another one or buy a roller and transfer the motor/trans, etc...It will all depend on what they come back with.

Keep an open mind on the numbers they give you.expect to have to negotiate the number offered, pull craigslist adds, eBay sold auctions, etc to get comparable prices for true replacement values. Let them know that you'll be replacing it with a like model, so blue book, since that can very, and condition brings the difference in a cheap basket case and a solid car. The miles on that car was way lower than usual, and what you paid (I don't even know that number) has zero to do with what it will cost to replace it.

We can't find a value on it. Craig looked and he couldn't find values for anything older than a '92. Any ideas on where we could look (other than currently available ones)?

Possibility. The funny thing is that a lot of these guys were here when we gave it to him. We had a 'gtg' that night and Don took him for a drive in it (because he loves fox bodies) then when they got back, I asked Austin if he liked it. He was drooling, then Don said "Good, here's the keys" and tossed them to him. He was speechless.

So I think that most of these guys have a little personal interest in it, too. It was a great night.
