What's the difference between firewood and scrap firewood?

Damn, i bought half a cord this spring and haven't made it through much at all. But we only throw 2-3 logs in the fire pit at a time.

It was cold and rained all weekend. So we had a pretty good sized fire to help battle the elements, and it burned from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. Open air camping, fwiw.

Yeah, this is why I collect my own wood now. When camping I'd rather have WAY more than I need than run out when it's freaking cold and/or wet.

Plus, sometimes ya just want to make a big ole fire. Gets expensive when you do this several times per year...etc.

Fortunately we've got trees to the point of excess covering a couple hundred acres, so it's nothing to burn through at the rate we did. They are growing faster than we can cut at this point.
