If you go you better be ready for a minimum $600 tab for the two of you. strict dress code fyi

I've only been once and enjoyed it. We did the Chefs menu at something like $250 each (multi course with wine pairings). I did not try it then, but evidently it is one of the best places to have caviar.

Overall it was very decadent and over the top - so if that's what you are looking for then TFR will be the scene for you.

B, i've been to the French Room, and it really is a step above when it comes to the experience.

Sorbet between courses to cleanse the palette, excellent wine choices, and solid food (for french food). Very expensive like chris said.

      Happy for you, my friend!

Thanks man! It's been a long time coming for sure. Just want it to be as close to perfect as possible.

Binky - Were you referring to Oak in your last post?

Is Pappas Bros. Steakhouse not a special occasion type of place?

I know It got voted Number one steakhouse by D Magazine a year or so ago. Keep in mind I DIDN'T say pappasitos cantina or pappadeax seafood restaurant lol

Brandon you know I saw this come like 2 years ago lol

Fearings at the Ritz is pretty good....I put it in the same ballpark as Capital Grill or Ocean Prime. Lonesome Dove is supposed to be pretty damn good as well. Yall being Dallas people for so long I would say try Ft Worth and something new and memorable, not a regular place you've been before.

Do you have any special places? Maybe a first kiss, date...etc?

I proposed to my wife at Petes piano bar, because that's where we first met. She loved it and the crowd was great since they let me pull her up on stage and all.

                  The French Room.

Oak is about a $250 dinner for 2. (With wine / cocktails)

Honestly, i'd go all out for The French Room as its a destination resturant.

Brad - Haha...I know. I've been putting it off for sure. I've had the ring for longer than I'd like to admit.

Went ahead and booked the French Room for Saturday night. Surprised they actually had a table available at such short notice. Thinking about proposing at dinner. We really don't have any "special" places besides previous anniversary spots, and we met at work so that's out. I figure why not have a new memory in a new place. From what I've read the staff should make it a good experience. Now I need to see if my fat ass needs a new jacket or not...

If you go to the Ritz make sure to stop in the bar to check out the hookers who work the room there. They are quite bold. The other night one of them walked up to two of my coworkers and grabbed their balls.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

One of my favorites is Oak in the design district. Its the only place where I actually have a favorite waiter.

Also, check out Kitchen LTO in trinity groves. The current chef is a freak and she is amazingly talented.

Tip: Use opentable to scan restaurants for openings at your time window

(if you decide on OAK, send me a PM and i'll give you the waiters name)

Check out http://dallas.eater.com/ for other restaurant ideas.
I second Oak. Super romantic restaurant in the design district and every time I've been it's been out of this world. Also in the design district is FT33, which is my favorite restaurant in all of Dallas. Everything seems to be so *special*, but it's not as quiet as Oak.

CBD Provisions and Proof + Pantry are both on the same level of ambiance, IMO. The best thing on the menu at CBD is the pig face, though, which isn't really all that conducive to proposing.

Of others mentioned, Fearing's is in the Ritz-Carlton and is an *experience*. Really, really super romantic. Lonesome Dove isn't very romantic, IMO. It's very Texan and sort of gets away from the concept of romance. Great food, though.

Alright. Everything is set. I spoke with the maitre d' @ The French Room for the evening and worked out a proposal shtick. Going to slip him the ring during a bathroom break and they are going to plate it with a floral arrangement under a glass dome. Swank. I'm pretty stoked. In a weird way for sure.
