There are several different arm bar positions, but in a typical scenario, where you're on your back and your opponent has your arm stretched out to your side and he's on his back, you would attempt to pull your arm and turn toward your opponent, driving your elbow to the ground. However, even in that scenario, if they have your arm set and are tightly controlling your body, the escape could be next to impossible, depending on your opponent. That's like asking how to get out of a rear naked choke, once it's set.Originally posted by Gasser64 View PostWell now I'm curious. Say you were locked in a good armbar. And instead of just giving up you want to try to get out of it. What would you do? What are your options?

Getting out of a rear naked choke is easy as pie. Just take a quick nap.Originally posted by STANGGT40 View PostThere are several different arm bar positions, but in a typical scenario, where you're on your back and your opponent has your arm stretched out to your side and he's on his back, you would attempt to pull your arm and turn toward your opponent, driving your elbow to the ground. Agreed. Pretty much the only way out of a fully set rear naked choke is to fight dirty. Pinching the living shit out of the inner thigh for example, makes most people let go in a hurry.Originally posted by STANGGT40 View PostThere are several different arm bar positions, but in a typical scenario, where you're on your back and your opponent has your arm stretched out to your side and he's on his back, you would attempt to pull your arm and turn toward your opponent, driving your elbow to the ground. Basically what stanggt40 said but there are a ton of details that I won't waste typing out.Originally posted by Gasser64 View PostWell now I'm curious. Say you were locked in a good armbar. And instead of just giving up you want to try to get out of it. What would you do? What are your options?

Thats another one I wanted to ask about but yall beat me to it. My estimation was that the only way would be to get ahold of a weapon since you have two free hands. At that point the other guy would let go pretty quick if he knew what was good for him. Looking at it from a non competition standpoint of course. Then again, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to chokehold someone like that outside a friendly competition anyway. Too big of a risk they might have a knife somewhereOriginally posted by STANGGT40 View PostThat's like asking how to get out of a rear naked choke, once it's set.WH

Sounds like a good way to kill someone.Originally posted by Nate View PostWould be a quick way for me to hold on to the choke after you tap to make sure you go to sleep.
More like 15, but who's counting? I just remember that story. The key is to not get in that position in the first place.Originally posted by Craizie View PostI'm pretty sure I could handle the pain for the 5 seconds of consciousness you have left.
