Yeah, 20 hours or so. I could make the run if I HAD to, but I'm just not much of a marathon driver and don't wanna burn up valuable vacation time just to register a car, if I can avoid it.Originally posted by Jewrrick View Posthow does it take that long to drive from LA to Texas? I made the trip in 26 hours and that was going out of the way to Las Vegas and stopping for 2 hours up there.
And remember I have to turn around and go BACK to work so it'd be alot of driving just to get the car inspected and registered. If it comes to that, so be it, but if there's a way around it then hell yes.

Register that fucker in Oklahoma, they don't do state inspections any more and insurance is cheaper. Taxes are higher up there though.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

The vehicle has to be present. He has to get a VI-30A "green slip" to verify the VIN of any vehicle purchased out of State, plus they'll inspect it at the same time.Originally posted by Chopped54 View PostMail the shit to someone here in Texas and have them register it here. It does not have to be you that registers it, they dont ask for ID or anything....

Yeah. You can't tranfer a title without passing a Texas inspection first. They hand you the "greensheet" with your inspection receipt. It's a $1 fee. That's $40.50 + $50. or so for the Texas tags.Originally posted by ComeAgainJen View PostThe vehicle has to be present. that's what I would try to do... surely you can find someone who'll make it happen for a few hundred bucksOriginally posted by red95gts View PostFind someone who does inspections to write up an inspection report using your VIN and info, have someone in Texas go register it, and mail you the plates and reg. sticker.
