If after whiskey, you don't do it - you're just a wuss then. Sober, I understand the good thinking and common sense.

The rental places generally drive it from the marina to whatever cove you plan on partying at and leave you there until your rental is up. You don't rent the boat to cruise the lake.

Bachelor party rescued after Lake Travis dock breaks free

VOLENTE, Texas (KXAN) — Multiple rescue boats ferried 18 young men back to shore early Friday from a houseboat set adrift by a severe storm. Shortly before 1 a.m., strong winds ripped part of a dock away from Sandy Creek Marina on Lake Travis. The broken section of dock, as well as the houseboat and another boat, remained attached by service cables, but floated farther into the lake.

A Volente Fire Department team was the first agency to respond. They called for help from Lake Travis Fire Rescue, North Lake Travis Fire Department and the Texas Task Force 1 Water Squad, as well as Austin Fire Department. The agencies used their rescue boats to ferry the men back to the dock.

The men on the houseboat were visiting from Louisiana for a bachelor party. Travis County and the houseboat owners were working to find them another place to stay temporarily.

Austin-Travis County EMS medics were on standby, but there were no reports of injuries.

Yeah, the owner of the property probably also feels like ass. Paranoia is not a bad thing when it comes to weather/nature safety.

From the radio this morning, they apparently called the property owner who told them not to worry as the river never got high enough to the house. By the time the water was at the stilts, the house was already surrounded and they couldn't leave.

Yeah, I was like NO WAY you were kayaking through that. We went to see the spillway 16-20 hours before it washed out. It was VIOLENT there - some other roads in the area are in bad shape too.

They did that shit in the city park here in Stephenville. Same result.
