No need to be humble now. We know you invented it.

I am not sure of the logic of posting a today's newspaper when posting a copy of a nearly 70 year old document and what in the hell does #1BJJ mean? Who gets the paper anymore anyway?

In combat exploits during his much shorter time of service he did at least on paper one up my other grandpa.

He was married 3 times and had children in each marriage; I was one of many grandchildren. I have an uncle in Austria who is a few weeks younger then me; there is also an uncle that died in his 70s. I also do not even know if there were any medals for him to leave to me. Paying for a plane ticket and handing me some cash is also the extent of his support for my trip.

My grandfather never had any big war stories or wealth, but he made my grandma happy until the day he died. I don't think anyone else could have done that. I guess he's a one-in-a-billion.

He'd also be sad if I had to lie about him to impress others. Some of the funnest 5imes we had were hunting down grocery carts that wandered off from the parking lot. He returned them for a small hunk of change that we'd immediately turn around in the store and buy candy and sidas. We made quick work of them before we went home, so we didn't get yelled at by my mom.

Good times. I just wish I could have been with him when he blew by Petty and Earnhardt in the final lap at Daytona.

He was also a photo journalist and war correspondent for many years. Claimed he had been to all but 2 countries in the world, and was jailed in a few for taking pictures of holy places where it was prohibited. He amassed and now owns a multi million dollar collection, which has been called New York's Smithsonian of collectibles. I'm actually waiting for him to ship me a pair of dinosaur eggs.
