Surface and iPad are out at that price. Keyboards cost about $100 extra as well.

If considering new, you can look at some of the cheaper android tablets out there like the HP 10 Plus. But in all honestly, even though I work for HP, I wouldn't touch that POS. Here it is if you want to see it:

Samsung Galaxy tablets are pretty good. I'm just not much of an Android fan. Perhaps because my HP experience soured me on it.

I have a personal preference for the iPad right now but the Surface is pretty sweet. Windows 8.1 was the only thing I really didn't like about it. I'm waiting to see what MS does with the Surface Pro 4 before I make any upgrade decisions. It's still hard to believe MS has gotten their act together.

I use my iPad mini all the time. Computer rarely even gets turned on anymore. I also have an iPad 2 but it's too big and I actually prefer the mini.

Surface has best keyboard and has a USB port.

Surface keyboards are crap. ASUS Transformer has the best keyboard.

Yup, I use mine but mostly for work. I've got a desktop PC that is over five years old but it still works so well that I have no reason to get rid of it. Those Intel core i7 processors (the first generation) are outstanding. All I've done is put in an SSD and maxed out the RAM. It runs Windows 10 like a champ.

I've got a surface pro 1 with docking station and keyboard I'll sell on the cheap. Bought it thinking the ARX control system would work on it, and it doesn't.
