I just had this conversation with my buddy, 2k is a horrible price to pay to get back what was once yours over some BS, but it's still way less than his attorney estimated it would cost to roll the dice. Their original plan was to try to take it out of city court to county, and request a change to another county, but there wasnt any guarantee on that either. The day after if happened, his attorney told him to write it off.Originally posted by ceyko View PostYeah, we all understand what you're saying - it's just not right though....what they are doing.
it's under replacement cost, but an unnecessary expense.

400 in new (like 600miles) tires, 350 winch, 200 box, tongue storage and tire rack, plus the cost of a new trailer, it's not hard to be better in the money here. Just to duplicate it, it's going to take 2200+, we figured.
Plus, that serial # is the new assigned one.

Why would you pay 2k for that trailer when you can build a much better one for half that without give a POS PD your hard earned money???????
You willing handed them 2010 reasons to keep doing this same kind of bullshit.

So it's just the cost of the fine, at this point? I mean, we had a "stolen trailer" that now has an assigned VIN and a fresh title...

They are our personal property, and are ours to go pick up anytime. We just decided to let them stay and buy the trailer back, you know, so we dont have to unload and reload them later.Originally posted by Grimpala View PostSo what happened with the tires/wheels on the rack?

I mean if all your going to get is a ticket. Hey, I get it, it sucks, and a lot of people do it. Doesn't make it right. There is a shit load of stolen trailers out there and if you ever had a trailer stolen you wouldn't feel this way. Easy way to fix this. Do away with BS homemade trailer tags. Either get a builders VIN like a street rod, or bonded title. I have seen very few actual homemade trailers in my lifetime.
