Don't claim that anyone in the police department cares about innocent owners. That is a fucking lie. The innocent owner defense only works if you have a lawyer backing you up to enforce it. In fact, if you bring it up the police and the DA will start threatening you with other charges or start claiming that you are going to have to pay their legal fees if the case is decided in their favor. The ACLU has a stack of cases where that scenario has unfolded many times. As I said, most banks have lawyers sitting around with nothing to do. They eat shitheel cops and greenhorn public counsellors for breakfast and that is why they get their property back.Originally posted by dcs13 View PostActually the "lienholder" has an "innocent owner defense". Because they have an interest in the property, and they did not commit the felony offense, they shouldn't lose their interest. That's why the big boy dope dealers don't have stuff in their names...
And in your contract, you stipulate that you won't use the vehicle or property for illegal acts or they can demand the note due or reposses to satisfy their interest. Because if they give it back and the guy gets popped dealing again, they no longer have an "innocent owner" defense.

If a bank has a note on something they shy away from trying to take it. This is because banks have armies of lawyers who routinely crucify these idiots in legal proceedings. They do their best to only steal from folks who don't have the deep pockets to fund a legal battle.

I would always support any private citizen over a thieving government agency.

Your opinion is a steaming pile of shit. Guess what, even drug dealers have rights.Originally posted by dcs13 View PostHave no issues with guns or alcohol. Love em both, just not too much of the one, while using the other.
Illegal drugs, a whole different ball game. Drug dealers are scum and pray on the weak to make their profits and support their habits. They care nothing about what happens to the users. Eff them.

I'm not sticking up for drug dealers, your logic just sucks.
