    Did they give you a reason or explanation? I could kinda sorta understand if they had to keep it for x amount of years for evidence, in case of an appeal. But to keep it indefinitely is bull shit.

    If they run the serial # and find it was stolen, will the owner get it back?

    I don't know how these things work when there is a homicide with that weapon.
