I've never had a car payment. Always pay cash, usually for a broke POS and I fix it.

4 cars, 1 payment. I waited until I was 45 to buy a new car for me. Only thing worse than buying a car, is buying one back you already own. Divorces suck.

Took the 8,000 from the insurance and put it on my Cruze in which I only pay $180 a month.
you didnt even consider a foxboddy and $5k?

I went from 18-31years old with no payments. Two years paying on the truck now It sucks but it should last me for quite a while. 1.9% with the credit union so i cant complain to much. Ill be happy as hell when i write the last check.

I haven't had a car payment for 8 years now. It's nice, but I'm about to have to jump into that pool again...

If you can do math, you can determine if it's better to finance with a dealer at a promotional rate, finance 3rd party, or pay cash. When we bought our Edge in 2010, they had a deal for 0% but it was sticker or double rebates and bring your own financing. I traded in a car that was paid for worth $12,500. $3500 rebates doubled made the purchase quite nice. You just have to be able to do math.
I said it before in the last thread, I try to finance a small amount at the lowest rate I can get, take the rebates and then pay off the balance a few months later. There will be some fees in there but not many.

I am sure they exist but I have never seen a car note with a prepayment penalty so use that to your advantage.

    I said, GOD DAMN!

    '12 5.0 & '12 Fusion w/Ins = $1k a month and I'm done in a few months. At that point I might have to get me a '16 EB Stang...

    Good god, man.

Obviously you're insured as high risk, so what's the curious story behind that?

6 vehicles (3 kids all driving) and 1 payment on a car currently for sale. Debating to replace that with a new 15 GT but it would be nice to not have the payment

Small payment on the wife's Edge and an even smaller lease payment on the Leaf. That lease will be up in June, at which point I'll be paying cash for an 05-09 GT (most likely).

Of course, the fastback was paid off the day I bought it almost 20 years ago.
