So now that you are there, what are some stereotypes you thought of about them that you find were not true?

Really they are a lot more metropolitan and business oriented than I would have thought. I pictured beach bums near the coasts and rednecks on the interior, but they work really hard and have as much pride as being Aussies as we do being Texans (they wear flag shirts, have bumper stickers, beer coozies, etc). It is also very temperate here in Melbourne, much like San Diego. Lastly they all refer to New Zealand as "their bitch". Kind of like our relationship with Canada.
