I like it. The shave butter rocks, but I have to use a ton of it every shave. It goes Super quick. I've started using some of it and barbasol on top.

I keep a little scruff to be lazy...not to spend more time making a woman of my beard.

I also shave with just water when I do shave. My skin should be battle hardened...not treated like a babys chapped ass.

what does beard oil or balm do?

Most people's beards are naturally scraggly. Balms and oils give the hair a little bit of weight and it helps straighten them out so they'll stay where you put them. That and they make it smell nice. Personally I usually keep mine trimmed with a #4 guard, just short enough where it stays manageable.
