However, as long as there are no consequences for his actions, he will continue to do the same.Originally posted by bcoop View PostThere is nothing to gain and everything to lose, when internal matters are handled publicly.
Do you have any interest in selling the skid steer to recoup at least some of your loss? I hate to come across like a vulture here. It just seems you no longer have anyone to drive it, or do the work as you stay busy with the mechanic side. Well, that, and it appears you no longer have any clearing business as he took that too.
There is also the specter of allowing a known piece of shit do do business with the people YOU do business with. This can and will bite you in the ass as well.

I know the feeling. All you can do is move forward and don't look back.

I help people all of the time but I only help the ones that are busting their ass trying to help themselves. So far I have yet to be burned although there have been a few times where I have seen that there is no hope of being paid back so I tell the person not to worry about it rather then having that come between us.Originally posted by inline 6 View PostThat why I dont help anyone who cant help themselves.Magnus, I am your father. Skid steer was a rental. I'm planning on buying one just to rent out. If all goes well I should be approved for a loan in November and I plan on buying one from an auction.Originally posted by bcoop View PostThere is nothing to gain and everything to lose, when internal matters are handled publicly.

My wife is the one who championed for me to "move forward, don't dwell, etc."Originally posted by mstng86 View PostWhile that sounds so simple and I probably could do that, my wife would have to choke a bitch.
I'm the blood thirsty one of the two of us

I guess I am more of an asshole than I ever thought.
From the very beginning of your story, it was clear to me that you were setting yourself up to get fucked over bad. I know you were trying to be helpful, but to me, I couldn't imagine any other outcome, except maybe something worse than what actually happened.
And then to read that some of you others have been screwed over for money like that... I can't picture any situation where I would make that kind of money potentially vulnerable like that. I don't care if it's a close friend or family member.
I guess maybe because I really didn't get any help or handouts as a young adult, and had to bust my ass to make it, I firmly believe in the theory that others need to get their own and find their own way. I'll donate money to causes and try to be generous with gifts for loved ones and stuff like that, but I don't loan money to anyone and I don't give anyone the chance to get over on me. No one helped me, and I went through some really hard shit, but I truly believe it made me better in the end. I have a close relative who has been a mooch her whole adult life, and at 32 years old, she still can't get her shit straight to this day, and just depends on people's handouts to keep her propped up. She knows not to ask for anything from me, and instead continues to take and take from other family members who don't have anything to spare. And heck, I blame them for giving in. They have enabled that behavior.
If a close friend or family member needs someone to talk to, a couch to crash on for a night or two, or something like that, I'll help. Heck, I might GIVE them a little cash to help them out, especially if they don't ask for it, but it's not a loan and I don't expect it back, AND they understand not to come back asking for more.
As I type that, I realize it does make me sound like a cold-hearted asshole, but I'm not changing my ways.
