The stated goal of Isis is to force a situation where the west has to put boots on the ground in their territory. A total of 4 days. We were in Kuwait a month before convoying out to Sadr City. I was hit in the first firefight and removed from theater a day later.

I never hide the fact I wasn't there long. We ran patrols constantly so once one group would get back, another would roll out. I was a volunteer to that fight because when we got back from our patrol, I was the only one who did weapon maintenance and refilled my water immediately instead of kicking off my boots and grabbing chow. I was the SAW gunner so my place was in the turret.

If you get curious, I was on Nightline and in Time Magazine, 3 Roads Back. When I got back, I studied up and trained new guys out of basic to get ready to go until I was temporarily discharged. I've spent every day since then learning my enemy and it's why I double mastered in applied psychology and national security.
