Even a casual thief can pick that lock in seconds.

What I've always used.

Yeah that's it. Won't stop the persistent thieves that are really wanting it. That's why I put a lock on the safety pin so when that is broken they still have to work a little longer to get it out of the ball socket.

oh ya. The Marines broke their key off in one we needed in and it took 2 guys with cut off wheels and chisels almost 4 hours to cut into one of these fuckers.

You could just go the easy way. My dad, before he passed, made stuff to prevent thieves from taking his trailers. I have something he made around here somewhere. Basically it's a steel pipe that will fit around the coupler that is long enough to slide down to the part of your hitch that gets wide with a chain welded to it so that you can lock it to your jack. Huge ass chain with a big lock and a steel pipe.

You aren't getting past it and it costs next to nothing to make.

There's a couple youtube channels that pop up in my feed that are all about lockpicking and shitty locks.

bosnianbill is one channel and lockman28(i think) is another - They either have weird locks from around the world or demonstrate how easy some of the popular locks are to defeat.

These guys are an exception, 99% of the population couldn't pick a lock if shown how. It takes a lot of practice. Most thieves try and force it and just break shit to get in.

Those guys look good on video but I'd like to see it in a controlled environment.
That being said the Master hitch locks ( the original brown colored ones) are the best in my book.

yep.. I remember it being posted here a while back. Big set of bolt cutters and its off. I think it was a member here who had his trailer stolen from his driveway.

We have those on our trailers. They seem pretty sturdy. Of course, if someone has a fork or a simple piece of hooked iron sticking out from their hitch, they can just set the trailer on it and tow it away without using the ball hitch.
