It's pretty clear that the center core did not make it to the barge if you watch the stream closely: https://youtu.be/wbSwFU6tY1c?t=38m42s

To the right of the presenter, the rightmost screen (which is partly split by the edge of the video), is initially grey (same smoke we saw on the feed that was shown to us), then the smoke clears… and you can see the barge, with the sea in the background, clearly a live feed since the barge is yawing… and no rocket on the SpaceX logo

you can rewatch right after both side boosters land and the drone ship camera changes angles twice and the smoke clears with no booster on site. So it was at least close. Unless it just landed right off screen.
