I've spent dozens of hours in a tornado shelter, and I wouldn't feel safe in an above ground safe room, for what it's worth. They may be more practical, but I just don't see them being as safe as a concrete in ground shelter.
Mike was going to have a safe room or shelter built after the last round of tornados in Moore. I'm not sure what he went with though, but I'm interested to hear his input.

My brother lives on Martha Ln. Somehow it jumped right over his house, but now they are telling them they will likely have to evacuate due to issues with the water tower.

Was out there today, police had the whole city blocked off, they let me pass but I couldn't go anywhere due to all the debris, it's crazy how much was wrecked and so little fatalities

This is my friends house, the house next door got a direct hit. Both people in this house walked out with only one having a scratch. All doors were in the backyard and pieces of the house were scattered everywhere. His wallet and cell phone were sitting on the counter in the same spot and her purse was still by the door. Rings were still on the bathroom counter. Just odd.

I guess you can call it a good day since so far, there have been no reported deaths in Rowlett and injuries stood at 23. From the devastation I saw, I am amazed that's all there was. It was like walking on a movie set. Surreal.
Strange things I saw...
A fridge on its back out in the street with all its contents strewn about, next too it were several fresh eggs laying on the asphalt not even cracked.
A mobile home lost all its walls and roof, yet most of the furniture was still in place. The china cabinet still standing and full of china and nothing broken.
I guess the toughest thing is seeing childrens toys among the absolutely flattened remains of a mobile home and wondering if they made it out, but I was glad to read that apparently they did survive.Last edited by Frank; 12-27-2015, 08:05 PM.
