You check the husbands credit cards to see what establishments he frequents, most likely a bar where The husband complains about wife, and ask the staff to see who he has been hanging out with at the bar. It's probably a bar buddy he paid to do the kill who obviously isn't very smart and a chronic drunk. Probably scoped out the church from husbands poor intel figuring there were no cameras and if anyone saw him they would figure he was part of the police or there for the self defense training. He hides behind the entrance and clobbers her after she walks in.
