I think he's going to do just fine. We give Ben a lot of shit, but he really is a good dude, and has a good head on his shoulders. He'll probably be on his face quite a bit, but I don't doubt that he can do anything he sets his mind to.

Good luck with that! He's at Fort Benning, that's all anyone is going to know until his company commander sends his point of contact a letter with his mailing address and a very rough schedule. He'll probably get a phone call once assigned to a unit but then it'll be 3+ weeks before anyone hears anything and that would be only if he writes someone. They'll get their phones for a few minutes a week after the 6-7 weeks.

Since he's doing OSUT (one station unit training) his AIT starts right after basic with the same instructors. So his basic is really more like 14 weeks. Then off to Ranger school!

We need his address to mail him letters and baked goods. We had to do push ups for our letters; had a guy who had to do hundreds a day. If you got any baked goods/sweets(which you couldn't have anyways) in the mail, it was game over for the recipient.
