I bought this one.. Got tired of the gas ones. I use it at my house and my 5 acre property. Plenty of power and the easiest string install ever! Only thing is battery life. I need to get another battery for it.

If you're going to do it, go 40 volt. We use all 18 volt Ryobi at the shop & at the races. It works great, but even with the bigger batteries, our one brand new leaf blower(you'll see us use it at Rallycross!) burns through the battery in no time. I can only imagine how bad the weed eater would be!

I have a 40v Ryobi and love it. It has handled everything fine and will last my front yard and back yard including edging the side walk and drive way without needing charge.
So much easier than fucking with gas or chords. I've had it for 2 years now without a hiccup.

My black and Decker cordless weedeater and blower are badass. Got them in a combo set on clearance at Lowe's for around a hundred bucks. I can trim my entire yard front and back and blow all the trimmings on one charge.

I got the echo cordless trimmer, on 1AC, battery is solid, 4ah. It's a little heavy but I love not messing with the gas, and it has plenty of power.
Home Depot has it for $230

You gotta use those plastic wires on the new style spools they sell. No more bs just remove the old strip replace with new and get to work. I save about 160 month by doing my own work.Originally posted by Rick Modena View PostI don't know what Jesus uses but, he does a damned fine yob. I leave a check every other Friday and my lawn looks great. Thanks again Jesus...

Stihl at home and at work for clearing ROW. Only issue we have had at work is one of the operators used cheap gas and oil mix left it in the wacker over winter and it gummed up the carb. Which is $35 from the stihl dealer

Purely opinion, but given my experience with cordless tools, they're going to have just as much trouble as gas, if not more. Seems every year I am buying 2 new batteries for my cordless power tools.
I got a straight shaft Stihl a few years ago for my birthday. Still starts first pull every single time. The older Echos are solid too.

Cordless drills/impacts and even saws rock in my opinion....
...cordless weed whackers SUCK though. Even mildly tall grass slowed up the one I bought years ago...been sitting around doing nothing forever now.

I have no experience with battery powered stuff but do have a stihl lead blower I use at the restaurant.. I use it every day.. I use the ethanol free stihl gas (expensive) and I haven't had to mess with maintenance one time yet and I've had it almost a year with zero issues

I've been using the 19.2volt craftsman weed/edger and blower for over 5 years. I went with it since I had other crap that could use the batteries too. Edging makes me want to throw the fucker as far as I can. I typically have to manually feed the line out, but it's usually okay with a full battery or if the gods are on my side. Weed eating is fine, but not as good as a dual string.
I can edge, weed, and use the blower on one large and some of the small lithium battery.

One of my best friends back in NC owned his own landscaping company. He had enough yards to pay his bills but made his money on their nursery and planting trees. I often helped mow in weekends, so I have a lot of time running a weed eater. You learn quickly how to stand, hold the weed eater, and the best angles for edging versus cutting grass/weeds. The best thing to do is buy a straight shaft weed eater, lose the guard so you can run more string, and move quickly. You'll get good in a hurry. I have the Stihl combi unit with weed eater, blower, edging attachment (which is rarely used), and the metal blade for light brush. It's an awesome setup.Originally posted by ELVIS View Posthumor me..... and shed some light on your weed eater education.

Bought my mom a 18v ultra light Ryobi. She absolutely loves that thing and bought the blower to match the other day. Uses the same batteries as her tools so plenty of juice laying around for it. She has a big ass lot also. I had a Crafstman at my last house and it worked fine for the yard size. That was siz years ago though. I have a Stihl now but could probably get by with cordless. I am a big fan of Round Up in places I need to weed eat.
