    From July of last year:

This has been coming for a long time, any school administrator who acts suprised should be fired.

You have to also look at the municipal tax revenue dropping off. All these houses being foreclosed or at least defaulted probably bring in no taxes either.

Technically they did give money to support education, problem is that most states counted it as part of their normal budgets and blew it all in one year.

Realisically, these changes should have started about three years ago when the recession hit and the school boards realized that tax revenue was going to drop significantly. Instead they just kicked the can down the road and hoped things would get better. Now they have to do what everyone else had to do and take it on the chin.

They just signed a multi-million dollar tv deal. I think the football program pays for quite a bit for State run schools

As much as people are paying for tuition and as much as their football program brings in, I seriously doubt it.

Yep, the day of reckoning has come for the public sector. There isn't any federal money to prop up the states any more. It sucks that you may lose your job Leah.

Sounds like a lot of protection to be had in the public sector
