I got a 97 ford ranger the other day for $200 and case of beer. I need a 4r44e transmission for it or I'm going to have the one that was in it rebuilt \ repaired. Who are our go to guys for these things nowadays?

Your gonna be stuck with the little yards on one of those. Also, with that truck being 20 years old, 12k miles a year puts it at 240k. I would look at having it rebuiltOriginally posted by Mach1Run View PostI got a 97 ford ranger the other day for $200 and case of beer. Speaking of salvage yard. I'm needing underpinning for my 2013 Civic coupe. I had a tire jump out of the dark at me last night and tear a bunch of shit off the bottom of my car. Honda parts direct shows it to be about $200 shipped to me.Originally posted by LeahBest balls I've had in my mouth in a while.

Like actual suspension pieces? Salvage yards generally sell sheet metal, drivetrain components and an entire suspension side which they call a knee assembly. Really for $200 I'd probably buy new and not deal with getting the wrong stuff.Originally posted by black2002ls View PostSpeaking of salvage yard. I'm needing underpinning for my 2013 Civic coupe. Thankfully no suspension. Everything that was damaged was the aero undercarriage and skid pansOriginally posted by BP View PostLike actual suspension pieces? There aren't any interchanges on that stuff so most yards aren't going to inventory it. That and the cars get moved around by forklifts, those parts are probably going to be destroyed.Originally posted by black2002ls View PostThankfully no suspension. All I was told was the shop the guy had it at wanted $1700 to rebuild it. Original trans with 108k on it. He took it in after the idiot lights came on, they pulled and disassembled it. He decided to spend the $1700 on a new f150 instead. He was gonna junk it so I lowballed it and he took it. He picked it up from the shop and delivered it with all the bits in boxes lol.Originally posted by BP View PostWhats actually wrong with it?
Its going to be a first time car for my son to learn to drive so it doesn't need any thing fancy other than just being able to run and pass any inspection it needs.
Was hoping a pullout or diy would get it back on the road inexpensively for a while but not sure how to figure out what spefically is wrong.Jon
