There is a huge difference between appreciating a bike for it's ability to handle, stop and start quickly and going fast because you can. Those are the ones who end up killing themselves.Originally posted by TX_92_Notch View PostI've never met anyone that bought a sport bike because they're slow...

I was "all of the above" for many years. Like you said, I enjoyed it more for the agility and acceleration but I also spent plenty of time at redline in 5th or 6th gear when the roads were clear enough where I was really only putting myself at risk. Luckily I never went down. Sold mine when the first kiddo was born.Originally posted by SS Junk View PostThere is a huge difference between appreciating a bike for it's ability to handle, stop and start quickly and going fast because you can. If you got it when you were young you most likely were lucky. Not every idiot dies in a fiery ball of death when riding a sport bike. I've never heard of the older crowd really enjoying riding a full on sport bike on the street for a long period of time without complaining about pain in the back and wrists.Originally posted by Craizie View PostI guess I got lucky!
Understood. We've all done stupid shit. I lost my license for six months at 18 when racing a friend of mine while on a bike. It was a wake up call.Originally posted by TX_92_Notch View PostI was "all of the above" for many years. I was 21-24 when I had it. Rode in sleet, snow, thunder storms... any weather you can think of. 0 wrecks. I call it good situational awareness and reflexes.Originally posted by SS Junk View PostIf you got it when you were young you most likely were lucky. Agreed. For the last six years my bike was a primary source of transportation. Has over 65,000 miles on it now and within that time, learned a shit ton about being aware of the idiots around me and to not trust anyone. If possible I always go faster than traffic so I won't be stuck beside some blithering moron who cares more about what was going on inside the car or phone than driving.Originally posted by Craizie View PostI was 21-24 when I had it. Says the genius who used to post videos of "stuntin'" as well as bragging about putting a bike down at 170+mph...Originally posted by naynay View Postcouldn't have said it better myself.Last edited by SS Junk; 02-09-2017, 01:13 PM.

I have rode for years and never been down. I have also had some redonkulous bikes over the years. When you Turbo a ZX11, you know you got issues. My favorite, other than the 96 Electra was my TL1000R. I just liked the sound and grunt. Never owned anything under a liter bike as they were always disappointing. I look every now and again and almost bought a RC8 but then realized it would just get me in trouble. Same reason I didn't buy a CTS V Caddy. Shit the 3.6 does more than enough for a commuter car.Whos your Daddy?

LOL, uhhh dirt hurts also! A lot sometimes. I have went end over end, face planted, came off like superman etc, on dirt. Been lucky with only some bruised ribs and legs. I actually think my beginning dirt bike years probably saved my life a few times on the street. I rode across a ditch mogul style on a liter bike. Hauling ass, got to the end of the street, "oh shit sprinkler system, f it", hit the gas and pulled the front wheel. Ended up through the field on the actual street I wanted to be on anyways. HA. I have always told people past my early twenties have been just bonus years.Originally posted by naynay View Posti learned real quick that concrete hurts. thats something you only do once.Whos your Daddy?
