This has been my point for almost a decade. When it comes to screwing over Americans, universally, the two parties always agree.

It’s not your money. It’s grand theft on the biggest scale ever seen. It’s my money, my kids money, their kids, and their kids and everyone’s for generations. You are supporting theft from generations that can’t vote and aren’t even born yet. It’s totally irresponsible and not a good idea in any sense. And most of it was stolen for BS purposes.Originally posted by Trip McNeely View PostWhile I don't agree with using my taxpayer money to give out for free, I do agree with using it to stable the economy that has been outstanding and keeping it that way. Look, it's a bandaid and it comes with the provisions that these companies more or less furlough, but keep employed these people. Keeping them employed is important so when this "pause" is done, they can go right back to work. This money isn't indefinite, and it does come with conditions on both the employee and the company. I don't see it as a bailout at all. I find it more useful as my taxpayer money than 95% of the other places my money is used.

What actually got passed? With a Republican President, House, and Senate? If the Democrats put it in there and the GOP signed off on it without even blinking despite total control over the process, do the party lines really mean anything?

While I'm guessing you're being sarcastic about this being the most socialist in world history....it was pretty bernie-esque.

Whoa whoa whoa. Republicans just pushed through the biggest piece of socialist legislation in world history. Lets just ease back on the partisan bullshit; there are no politicians out there with clean hands in this mess.

Please compile that list side x side. I'd like to see it. BTW, Here's Nancy's version:Originally posted by talisman View PostCognitive dissonance ain't just a river in Egypt. Republicans put no bullshit pork in this bill? You really want to stand behind that statement?
– $300M for foreign refugees
– $800M for Endowment for the Humanities and Arts
– $100M for NASA
– $25M for cleaning supplies for the Capital Building.
– $25M for additional House of Reps salary.
–A nationwide mandate for ballot harvesting
–An automatic visa extension for all foreign workers
–An expansion of foreign-language ballots
–Same-day voter registration for the 2020 presidential election
–An amnesty for nearly 800,000 DACA illegal aliens
in addition;
-Diversity provisions
-Post Office bailout
-Union boosting
-Environmental provisions
*Any airlines that accept assistance from the House Democrats’ bill would be forced to “offset their carbon emissions and reduce their overall emissions by 50 percent by 2050.” That matches with environmental plans from Democratic presidential candidates Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders to have the U.S. reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
-Obamaphones
-Newspaper retirement plans
-$15 minimum wage for companies accepting assistance
-Kennedy Center
-Voter registration
-Student loans
Do I get forgiveness for mine??Last edited by Trip McNeely; 04-11-2020, 05:35 PM.

The bailout is chump change compared to SSI, Medicare, and Medicaid.Originally posted by talisman View PostSorry to hear that man.

You don't get it. I am the son of a man who was killed in the line of duty, my adoptive father was a police officer, and I worked at a SD for a few years. My shit is legal and in order. For the government to come after me society would have had to have taken a hard turn to totalitarianism. If there was ever a group of armed men at my door it is extremely unlikely they would even know who was in the house much less what they were walking into.Originally posted by Gasser64 View PostYeah but you're gonna have a pretty good idea of when they're coming. For instance, you running a pool company is very unlikely to bring a swat team to your door. But when you start doing things that you know will attract unwanted attention, that's when you set it up. So you could have years, even decades of not needing it. And then only have it in place for a few months or a year.
Edit: The only explosive that can been obtained without attracting attention is acetylene and it is incredibly dangerous to handle once you remove it from the bottle. It would be much easier to flood a structure with CO2 and let anyone who steps in the door drop dead after a few breaths.Last edited by svauto-erotic855; 04-11-2020, 02:53 PM.

Using the lethal ones seems like a good way to get your own military to turn on you. Once you're dead or in imprisoned, the real effectiveness of those weapon systems seems questionable. I get this from a few old friends that were in the marines. To sum it up oh yeah, they'd kill those people. I don't even think that they'd think twice about it. I can't even repeat some of the stuff they've said here. You may have heard a lot of it, it's pretty nasty.Originally posted by white trash wagon View PostNot quite - the government has many super secret weapons systems that were designed for any foe. But have not been deployed yet- or deployed in a clandestine manner. But there non lethal systems designed for widespread civil unrest.Last edited by Gasser64; 04-11-2020, 02:22 PM.
