LOL I have traveled for years, am sitting on about 15K worth of miles/points/etc. Most airlines let you register with them as a frequent flier. You can then setup a profile with your home airport as DFW for example. From there, you can setup alerts when there are deals to certain cities like Vegas, Miami, Denver, and even international destinations. I recommend you do that and then watch your email for opportunities.

And for Amex Plat, make sure you register your most travelled airline and not just the upcoming one.
Also you will get $200 in annual credit against incidentals like seat upgrades and baggage fees which usually credit back within 72 hours. They also added in an additional $200 airline credit if you book via Amex Travel, but this was targeted and not brand wide.
