  • Should I be so excited about quitting my job ?!

I must say, Holy Shit, it feels good !!!

I was so miserable at my job, that I couldn't take it any more. I finally decided Thursday morning that I was going to put in my two week notice after I met my wife for lunch. She gave me her support and said "go for it !".

Call it a good omen, or whatever you want, but RIGHT before I was going to leave to go to lunch I had a guy call that I had done some striping for about a month ago and said he has 7 pinstripe jobs for me to do right now, and has more that will be ready in a couple of weeks !! Then Friday I had a guy call wanting me to outline a flame job on a Chevy truck that he painted for a customer. I thought to myself, "what the hell, swing for the fences !" and shot him a price that I would have made in a week at my old job and he didn't hesitate and asked when I could do it !!

My boss told me not to worry about finishing out the rest of the day, so I rolled out after lunch and took the rest of the day off !

Not to mention some other side jobs I have and some ideas that I previously posted about that I can use for if/when the striping slows down. Damn, if I had known I was going to be this excited about quitting that shithole job, I would have done it a long time ago !

Here we go ! Crash'd Artwerks is in business !! Who can make me a website ?

Absolutely. The process of my decision to step down, resigning, and ultimately parting ways with my company took 20 grueling months. Granted, I was in a partnership, so dividing everything was the hardest part - even though I wanted nothing more than my freedom. 4/17/10 was my last day and it was like I hit the lotto. The joy I felt was immense, even though I was facing large degrees of uncertainty.

Jumped into school fulltime in the direction I should have been to begin with and have been hammer down. Will graduate stage 1 this summer, before (hopefully) entering stage 2 this fall.

Never an instant of regret. Health is better, family is stronger, I sleep at night again and get to be truly involved in my kids life. I do miss balla status though.

Congrats man hopefully it all works out! I know when I quit my comfy job at the mortgage company to start the towing business, it was the scariest thing I had ever done. It was also the most exciting too! I had some pretty severe mood swings. Some days it was the greatest thing ever and other days the worst! I just hope you have lots of money in savings, b/c when there is nothing coming in and only money going out it gets to be hectic. I'm into my third year as of last month and just now finally getting to a point where I can relax a bit financially although this month isn't necessarily a good month for that. I've paid out almost $8k this month and that was mostly to the IRS so things are a little tight right now, but hopefully bounces back quick!

Ohh and as a side note, hopefully you can make time for yourself. With being in the towing business, I never get a day off! It's important to take care of the home life too b/c the business will consume you completely if you let it!

I left my last job working for a garage almost a year ago to raise my girls and I smile about not going into that pit everyday. Some jobs just aren't worth having.

                              Congrats Aaron!

You are too talented to waste your time at a job you hate. I can't do programming, but maybe we can use your business card as a jumping off point for the graphics.

I'm happy to help if I can.
