Im looking to possibly buy a friend's pickup and would like to know what to expect when I goto get it registered. It'll be a private party purchase. Im gunna hit em at $10,500. So for that ammount, what should I expect to pay?

What year and type of truck is it ?

You can actually call the DMV and tell them what kind of vehicle and what year it is and they can tell you what the taxes will be. They don't strictly go off of what you paid anymore, they go by an average price that vehicles similar to yours have been registered at to determine the taxes.

More than likely they changed it to that way because of people buying a car and saying they paid $500 when they really paid $7000 and only paying taxes on $500 because they don't know what condition the car is in.
