I seldom do not side with corporations/businesses, but the ethics of Walmart piss me off. It is wage slavery, like sharecropping in the Old South or in the textile mills of the progressive era.
Of course if the government didn't pay entitlements then either Wal-mart would have to pay more or these people would work someplace else. So what is the problem here, is it Wal-mart or is it entitlement programs?

when i worked for sams club 6 years ago our store manager made roughly 200k. worked 50ish hours. he was a good guy to work for though. about once a month he would come in and cook the night crew lunch. not much but at least he appriciated his crew

In all honesty though, that's not bad considering the median household income in the US is around $49k.

My Father-in-law made $90k last year driving a truck for Wal-Mart, they sure take care of their drivers.

When I worked for a smaller chain the managers were pulling in over 150k with bonus. I bet Wally pays better but I can not be sure either way. HEB pays very well also and has a bunch of perks.

Not to mention all the extra stuff they use to get that goes with it. Trips to hunt/scuba in Mexico, free product dropped off at the house from the manufacturers, tickets to every kind of sporting event you can imagine, including hanging out in the suites. Retail can be a hell of a way to make a living if you like long hours and customer service.

Same here. Quality of HEB products blows Wally out of the water. I am either at HEB or Costco because I hate 90 percent of the people that shop there.

That's pretty respectable. I've worked many places that say they promote from within and very rarely see an example of it.

I have no problem with Walmart. It's cheap. Plenty of ghetto folks, but they don't start any shit with me, so I don't care. I do avoid the one on 183, though.
Closest one up north is in Burleson. I love the shit out of HEB, but it's still quite a bit pricier than Wally World. Went to HEB Monday to get some groceries and it was about $70, where at WalMart I probably would've spent $60 at most. HEB does have good quality storebrand stuff and their deli is far superior.
