Tile vs. Carpet vs. Wood

I like carpet because it's comfortable and good for sound. I know it traps a lot of stuff, but I have made it this far and that hasn't killed me yet. Most people I know with wood floors and animals have to sweep that shit every single day to keep the dust bunnies and stuff up. I'd much rather vacuum twice a week. I like tile in the kicthen and bathrooms, and I do like the look of some wood floors, but I could never get rid of the carpet in the bedrooms or main living area.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts exactly. I've had wood floors before and I had to sweep like 2x a day-FUCK that! That's what is holding me back...

I have hardwood floors throughout the house and enjoy the easy clean up, however if you have dogs and care about the look of your floors keep them outside.

For me tile and wood is good anywhere but the living room. Neighbor has ceramic tile in the living room an that is one cold ass mofo that echo's a lot.. Carpet is a good insulator and you not freeze your toes off on it.

During the winter I will not walk on the tile with out house shoes on.

I don't have a scrap of carpet in my entire house. I have wood in the living room with a rug in the center and tile in every other room. I really enjoy it and don't think I will have carpet ever again.

That's my problem. I think about that ALL the time and it grosses me out, but the sound and warmth are hard to give up, too.

Our house is tile everywhere, except the bedrooms. Bathrooms are tile.

Best option if you have pets. Takes a beating and easy to clean. My mom spent tons of money on nice wood floors in their new house and they are scratched to shit from the dogs and moving furniture around. Carpet is out of the question. My Golden Retriever would have destroyed it long ago as I installed a doggie door for her. She brings in mud and all kinds of crap. Swifers or sweeps right up. Carpet would get trashed in a very short period of time and is not good for people with bad allergies.

For the record if there are pets or kids in the house, use as much tile or wood flooring as possible. Though I prefer to have carpet in the bedrooms.
