I still can't go outside on the 4th, still expecting to get shot, but the Mustang is almost ready to roll so I want to hit a get together.Originally posted by helosailor View PostHappy re-birthday, Jim.
FWIW, I think it's the stuff you've been through (and come through) since then that give you bad MF'er status.
Not to get all sappy and shit, but you're an inspiration.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

That fucked up and funny at the same time. It is definitely a once in a lifetime experience. I wish you well.Originally posted by Forever_frost View PostI have no idea. I had a bullet sticking out of my skull. I remember getting a shot, being walked to the 'hawk and them sitting me in it. NO seatbelt, no door closed, woke up being zipped in a bag and smiled at the nurse doing it and said "You're cute."
She yelled and said "Holy shit, you're alive!" And I said "Yeah....think so, doing anything later?"
They yanked me out of it, put me on a backboard and neckbrace and put me in a different pile

That was a surreal day. I found out at the end of April he was over there. Just had a kid and had my head focused on her. We were talking back and forth via email at the beginning of May. Had been out camping and I received a call from a number in North Carolina I didn't recognize. By the 3rd ring my heart sank as I crossed back into Texas.Originally posted by stinginstang View Postmy best bud died 4/2/2003 in Iraq.
Voicemail was left and I couldn't bring myself to check it (this was on Mother's day Sunday). 9:30 that night the same number called and the wife of the man that saved my ass/directed my course/helped me find focus/helped me to trust and see good in others was a sobbing mess on the other end. Just a few years earlier he had stood behind me on my wedding day talking to me about stepping up.
He went over to pay off student loans and was KIA, unfortunately, by a fellow troop.

Oh it was interesting. Didn't feel a thing. The flight to Germany was hilarious. Bunch of injured Joes playing "who's got the worst injury". Went something like this
"What do you have?"
"Bullet in the arm. You?"
"Sucking Chest wound."
"Hmm, I took two in the chest..."
"I got a bullet sticking out of my head."
"Dude...you win."
"What did I win?"
"More morphine.....Oh..waiter..."I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

If the guy has ADD, it might be better/easier if we could get together over a few beers with an audio recorder and a computerOriginally posted by line-em-up View PostThere's this new thing called the Internet. You ought to try it. LOL j/k
it can be done, but I'm trying to make it as easy as possible

He got hit by a Bradley. Was in the 351st MP out of Ocala. Received a promotion to Sgt. that day and was running some troops home for R&R and a soldier in a Bradley Fighting Vehicle crossed over, hit him broadside. The force shot him into the steering wheel, crushed his throat and broke his neck. They worked on him for an hour. Said he had a scared look on his face for roughly 15 minutes, then looked peaceful. He was very devout in his faith so I'm sure he came to terms in a quick period.Originally posted by Forever_frost View PostDamn, my condolences. Always hurts to hear of a brother getting shot. Basically, I need to write a summary, 10-15 pages, on Schwarzenegger vs EMA that addresses the history of the case(s) at a lower level, what issues are present (1st amendment) and any sub-issues and analyze each side of the arguments.Originally posted by Cooter View Postlet me know what I can do to help! That actually would be a LOT easier than just about anything because between Korea and Iraq, I've got some interesting (to me) storiesOriginally posted by Cooter View PostIf the guy has ADD, it might be better/easier if we could get together over a few beers with an audio recorder and a computer
