I am 29 years old, and when i was 16 i had surgery on my ring finger metacarpel <-- sp ck.. It always has had a little scar tissue(lump) but i never worried about it.. Lately it has been just a hair inflamed... Over the last few days i noticed a slight soreness where the surgery line was and i started rubbing the lump that has grown...last night i noticed it was larger than usual and i was kinda rubbing it and i felt it pop (under the skin).. now its kinda sore and swolen.. will it go away or do i need to see a doc and get some meds?

Probably had some scar tissue break loose and it became inflamed...I would take some motrin or aleve for a week and reevaluate. Not infected and doesnt look like a ganglion cyst but I cant really tell from the pic/without an exam. If your hand swells more or if the redness spreads, see your doc for some antibiotics to treat cellulitis.

LOL...thats what many people do for a ganglion cyst. Just smash it and wait for it to return...as it will eventually even if you surgically remove it.Originally posted by 90GT50 View PostHit it with a hammer repeatedly, if any fluid besides blood comes out, then yeah, you had a cyst, now you just have a shattered finger.
