So he says he has a gun and license to carry but is told not to reach for it, reaches for it anyway, and gets shot. Is that how it went down? If so, seems to me a case of play stupid games, win stupid prizes.Originally posted by naynay View Postthat was tough to watch a man who had a Conceal Carry License get shot 4 times for trying to show the license.

In Baton Rouge, they WERE responding to a call of a man waiving his gun outside a convenience store. In the cops' minds, they had a crime to stop. When they arrived, he got confrontational and began resisting arrest - while carrying. All I can say is, that's a really dumb thing to do, and the video shows why.
The Minnesota shooting was just straight up trigger-happy murder. The dude wasn't resisting. He told the cop he had a gun and went to get his license, as the cop had ordered. There was no reason to shoot.
I'm not convinced that black people have more to worry about from cops than their own brethren. But I do think the cops were wrong to shoot in both these cases. When the government pays, the government controls.

I had one ask me to hand it to him and he put it on the cowl of my truck for the remainder of the stop.Originally posted by The King View PostHaving carried concealed in a vehicle during traffic stops, I have never been told/asked by the officer to reach for or show the weapon. Maybe this is what they mean by "white privilege", eh?Originally posted by The King View PostHaving carried concealed in a vehicle during traffic stops, I have never been told/asked by the officer to reach for or show the weapon. Rather they only asked where it is.
The cop didn't ask him to show his weapon. The victim told him he had a gun and a license, then reached for his wallet to get out his driver's license - as directed by the cop. When the government pays, the government controls.

Yes, this is the only thing I have ever heard from anyone who has a CHL. From what I have heard and experienced is when you show them your DL&CHL they ask where the gun is located. They know you have a clean record if you have a CHL and don't have anything to worry about and as long as you don't reach for your gun, they won't reach for their gun.Originally posted by The King View PostHaving carried concealed in a vehicle during traffic stops, I have never been told/asked by the officer to reach for or show the weapon. The guy in LA was being an asshole and started to reach for his gun, to either defend himself or to chunk it. Both moves were under the "play stupid games" column.Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.
