The funny thing is my motor pegged out the factory oil pressure gauge. My 347 idles hot at 60psi. 75psi at rpm.

Well what I've noticed (on my chevy anyway) is that the factory gauges are somewhat inaccurate compared to higher end replacements, such as autometer. So there is that.

Also, OP. You can still (if you haven't already) recess all those gauges, even the tach, so they look a good bit closer to oem. You'll have to take the gauge itself out of the housing, but I think its worth it. I got rid of the big retarded fuel gauge on my 87 where a tack always should have been, and recessed an autometer ProComp RPM gauge in there.

Only thing that I should have noticed (and you may run into this too) is that the autometer gauges are all built for... well for hot rods I guess. Like built up and finished ones. You'll notice the oil pressure gauge probably used to go to what... 60 psi max? Now its 100, and it always looks like you have very low oil pressure. It sucks, cause mine only reads any oil pressure when the oil is cold. It used to be fine with the old gauge.

These were on a 15% off sale and still were $765 for the kit. Comparable autometer gauges were well over $1k. The speedo and tach alone from autometer were equal to these in cost.

I like how they are all full sweep. Im nit picky and cant stand the autometer fuel gauges unless you want to spend 160- 200 for a programmable one.

    Gasser,

The factory cluster worked great. I wanted a tach and didn't want the typical autometer shift light tach screwed to the dash.
I also wanted a wide band and oil pressure/water temp with actual numbers vs low/high.

I have stored the factory cluster and don't plan on hacking the harness under the dash. I am running all new wiring to the new cluster and can hopefully have illumination pics this weekend.

Oh, that is like the first thing he should have done. Turn off all the lights and put power to the illumination circuit.

Got a little interior work done today. Pulled my dash and cluster. Replaced them both with new.

Gauge a luster has a 140 mph gps speedo which will log 0-60 times, 1/4 mile time and speed, peak speed and average. Recall/shift light tach, oil and water with high/low warning and innovative motorsports wideband.

    Interior

I am collecting parts for my interior and besides the usual carpet, upholstery, headliner, etc..I now have my B&M stealth pro ratchet shifter, supplies to build a custom center console and custom made gauges from Speed Hut.

Not my console but similar to what I plan.

Working...
