Inspection question

As an inspector I don't know any code words for that and we are told once it enters the bay you have to pay. Now you may get a nice shop that will check it out first for you.

There is a spot on the menu to run the emissions check without it being for a sticker. Testing or something like that. The old you have to pay regardless is so people can't get out of paying if the shop wants to charge them but as a previous poster said the stickers can be given away if the shop wants, so they can certainly let someone not pay for a fail. It's just that the inspector just spent 15-20 minutes looking at your car and it's not his fail your car didn't pass (usually) so the shop should be paid.
