    They only had a forged crank. Still have powdered rods and hyper pistons. Limited to about 500 hp...

          I was told by someone that has built a few 97 cobras that the pistons were fine, it was the rings that failed.

          But before that, I always thought the hyper pistons sucked ass, that's why id never want a non forged 302 92+, or non 03/04 cobra modular engine. Manley rods and forged pistons ftw.

          Maybe he was wrong, just relaying what I was told.

            the ring "packs" are less than desirable imo, but hypers are made with longevity in mind, not power. No, they dont like to be detonated. I have seen mod motors use oil, but never seen an outright ring failure without probable cause, even then, more than the rings failed by that time anyhow
