car has been running 205/210 lately and once it gets up there it dont come down one bit,,, runs fine when its warming up, drives like a dream but once it gets up there,,, starts running like total SHIT... so,,, i am thinkin and need some opinions/advice... looked at a mishimoto radiator,, twin electric fans, new thermostat and a high flow water pump..... for the thermostat,, which would yall prefer? i thought about 160 but nothing more than 180 because i want to keep it running as cool as possible.. and for the water pump, i have looked at a lot but which is best as far as a high flow pump?

Before I'd go through all that I'd give the thing a damn good flushing and replace with "Water Wetter" or something similar.

nooo... everybody keeps tellin me that but ok, here's the scoop on it all... i drive my car EVERY day all day long jus because.... it runs PERFECT,,, drives like a dream when its below 185 but after that,,, i can tell that it starts bogging down and it starts runnin like SHIT,,, so how is it that running 205-210 is not bad??? i have many witnesses, its a GREAT car to drive when its warming up but it gets hot and then its no fun at all to driveOriginally posted by 80coupe View Post205/210 isn't that bad.

pass on the mishimoto POS...they split like mad in cold weather.
Find a universal drop in at summit...they are like 199 bucks and work fantastic. you just have to fab up a couple mounts. I use them in racecars and work great for many years of hard service.

how do alluminum rardiators split? and i been hearin that maybe a 160 is too much but i would think,,, for this ol heatbox of a motor it would be good for it. idk why people tell me 205-210 degrees is GOOD.... ouch... what pump would you reccomend?Originally posted by Blackpony View Post^^ what he said.. I'd go with a 160 stat from parts store. You can keep ur engine fan or switch to electric either way, just make sure the electric comes on at the right time..

190-220 is a good operating range.
Did you get your car tuned when the weather was perfect? You might want to think about a hot as fuck summer tune.
There is a lot less oxygen in the air when its hot. I would imagine your a/f is off when it gets up to operating temp with this heat and real shitty air density.

The side tanks are bonded to the tubes with epoxy and they split when cold and then instantly hot when the tstat opensOriginally posted by fbodyjohnny View Posthow do alluminum rardiators split? and i been hearin that maybe a 160 is too much but i would think,,, for this ol heatbox of a motor it would be good for it. idk why people tell me 205-210 degrees is GOOD.... ouch... what pump would you reccomend?

Also get a quality water pump and throw it on when you do the radiator. I've had great luck with the top of the line NAPA brand. If you have or are getting a fan setup make sure it is sealed up well against the radiator so all the air is getting sucked through the radiator and not around it. Make sure the wiring/charging system is up to the task and put a quality controller/relay on it.

im glad you brought that to my attention... very good point sir. today i adjusted my bbk fuel pressure regulator, it was runnin rich,, 50 psi rich on the guage so i brought it down to about 43 which was as much as i could do. i just wish i had a wideband so i could better fine tune it for weather minus timing and shit. i think my pos FMU might be bad too idk. i would think that getting it to run cooler, like a constant 180-185 would keep it running like it should cuz like i said before, it gets hot and it runs like dogshit lolOriginally posted by Muffrazr View Post190-220 is a good operating range.
