Katrina and I picked up a '98 Sea Ray Searayder F16XR a couple weeks ago. We bought it knowing the motor was bad (thrown rod through the block), but now we're having hell trying to find a replacement, other than a $3800 reman. The motor is a Mercury SportJetXR 175. Basically a 175 horsepower outboard powerhead mounted on a jetpump lower unit so it works like a big jetski more or less.
I've been all over craigslist and ebay daily looking for one, and posted on a few boat forums and haven't had any luck.
Thought I'd ask on here, maybe someone knows any type of shop local that may have something or maybe point us in the right direction.
