A NASCAR engine would be badass, but here's my question. They wrap up to 10k rpm right? How impractical is that for drag racing? Just correct that with steep ass gears? 4.56+?
320rwhp. 7.67 @ 90mph 1.7 60'

6.33 or a 6.50 at martinsville. you really need to educate yourself on how hp is made. HP doesn't just magically happen at an rpm you pick. Hp happens due to cylinder head flow only, cubic inches then decides how early (rpm wise) that power can be made. more cubes, lower rpm target power can be achieved. The term torque and hp are pointless as they both happen together, or actually one because of the other. A cup, busch, truck engine will barely clear 500 ft. lbs. ever in it's total range, yet at 9400 they make close to 900 hp..........Originally posted by 91CoupeMike View PostI saw a 427 Yates Heads engine for sale in the classifieds here..

351w hyd roller 10.5:1 compression and get the lightest internal forged components, rhs mediums sized heads, gt40 intake, custom grind cam, aluminum flywheel and driveshaft. could be had for $3500 especially if you find used heads/ driveshaft/ and flywheel.

Lol, try running 8's first.Originally posted by 91CoupeMike View PostTrue, but 350rwhp isn't shit. If I can't beat 2012 cars that are stock why spend money on it?
The other way would build a stock shortblock 351w and do h/c/I. But I see that as wasted money because it will still be slow.
I want to run in the 5s at some time in my life.
350rwhp would blow your mind at your current level. A 351w/350rwhp fox is unable to beat '12 cars? How fast are these new cars you have to beat?
Wasted money? I don't see bottom sevens on a stock windsor block as slow or waste.
Here, just buy this guys setup: http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=389234Last edited by Jimbo; 07-23-2011, 05:41 PM.

RPM's break things. I had a 308 that I used to spin to 7k regularly, with the cam and vic jr intake, thats where the power was. Tons of fun dropping it into second gear on the highway. Now I have a split 302 block.Originally posted by 91CoupeMike View PostOh my little shit box 302 makes my little coupe keep up with heavier cars with a lot more power.
The only thing I hate is falling short on the big end due to lack of power. Falls on it's face after 5000rpm.. Having a power band of 2500-5000 isn't that awesome to me.

Right. You were scooting with just, what, 360rwhp? I think that is the only time I actually saw your car at the track (don't get to go much).Originally posted by GRAYHORSE View Posthaha, that he does!
I ran the same 1/8th mile as my Z06 in my Mustang II (better 60ft and slower mph) when the Mustang was only putting 262 to the wheels and almost 300tq.
