  • p-pumped 24v cummins?

anyone have any experience with these? I understand they are expensive conversions but are they as reliable as the 12v p pump trucks?

they can be for sure. they're often more cobbled together than a factory truck. You don't want electric fans on a truck if you're going to tow with it.

look out for a 53 casting block on a 99!!!!!!!!!!!!

went and drove the truck, the motor is smooth and idles solid, but when you get on it hard the truck falls on its face at 2100-2200rpm and makes zero hp. it will rev on up to 3k but its not producing any power. The owner says he was told the p-pump needs a lift pump producing 40psi of pressure compared to the stock 99 lift pump designed for the vp44. he claims that it needs a different lift pump.

The owner also said the pump has 4k governor springs in it, so thats not the issue.

The truck does not have an egt gauge but has a wastegated holset so im not sure if any damage has been done.

I didnt look at the engine block casting either

Anyone have an idea why the truck runs out of power at 2100~?

my main thought here also is that if it only needs a lift pump ($40-$100) why not just buy one?

          What pump is on it?

I dont see why it would need a better lift pump either, the VP44s need more fuel pressure and a more reliable pump to keep the injection pump alive....

the guys who have really nice p-pumped 24v trucks DO NOT sell them... (why would you? LOL)

pretty much every affordable p-pumped 24v truck that I've seen for sale has been a cobbled together mess
