you cannot find cam caps and just install them, you would have to get them align bored into position. And good luck finding someone willing to sell cam caps...that junks the head they were installed on

Might even be a good time for a termi swap.

If you local guys are like here you will be better off financially to order from MMR or the likes. If it isn't a common pushrod they charge out the ass here.
MMR is a sorry excuse for a company. Don't buy their horseshit

Yup you should forget about the rebuild and look for a good deal on a long block that's ready to go

looks like the cam(s) seized to the journals, heated, and/or snapped the ladders and generally FUBARed it.

GL with the rebuild. BTW you might want to start looking for new heads
            This!

Find a built cobra shortblock and buy some new 03/04 cobra heads complete with cams/springs.

My guess is the oil pump shit the ghost or you ran low on oil and starved it. Heads are junk if so. I wouldn't even use the followers again.

Forged "aluminator" longblock would get you back on track the fastest....but they are overpriced.

                you in college station?

I bet it still has oil pressure. It takes a lot of power to keep the cams spinning while it is seizing. That would have thrown a rod.

Either a major overheat in its past, revved until it pushed all the oil out of the pan, or shitty ford speed machine work

Well upon further inspection... I turned the motor on the stand over to look at the bottom end some more and found this...

                    Not the cam caps!!!!!!!!

Still doesnt tell me what locked up though.

For the record, Motor was not starved of oil, not over-revved. This happened during regular driving conditions.
                    Detailing is an Obsession!!

I've seen the curved guides break but not the straight ones.....you pull the pan yet?

Yes I've pulled the pan... That's where those pieces came from! My guess is one of those pieces got between a bearing or fucked the oil pump up causing seizure!??

What would y'all do from here?

should be a screen for pieces that big. But who knows, its a lemon for sure.

its real easy just pull your heads. If you cant rotate it still, then its the lower end.

                                looks like I called that!

the cam journals are prone to damage when oiling is compromised, they can be fixed in some instances, ask me how I know. The last one I did, broke the oil pump gears, starved the heads, galled the journals and a/m cams (all in ported heads i might add) and was able to save it all (except for the #1 rod) Hell, even the crank polished out!
