No, the motor has less then 3k miles on it. I just like seeing 60 lbs of OP on my mechanical gauge.

yeah i know dumpycapri85 told me i may need new ones, he was right i did.Was on a really tight budget at the time so i didn't do it when i built the motor.

I've ran 5W-40 for years on multiple vehicles. A lot of folks out there think that a lot of the Manuf. went to 5W-20 for the CAFE gains they would get from slightly better fuel econ over the whole fleet.

Honestly use whatever you want in whatever weight you want as long as it's slippery and you use a decent filter. And I don't mean expensive when I say decent lol.

Way back in 1979, I took my first job in an autoparts store, and we had Mobil 1 synthetic oil. It was in a shiney steel can & was $2.79 a quart- which seemed outragous considering I made $3.05 an hour! Wiki says it was introduced in 1974.........

The GT500 uses 5w-50, I doubt its poorly put together

That what AMSoil is good for, long oil changes. For 10k Mobil 1 will work just fine, no sense in spending extra money for an oil you aren't going to use to its potential.

Hmm...I know Vatozone has a 5+qt jug or 5 single quarts AND a mobil 1 filter for $35.99. That's still a deal considering the jug at Walmart is around $27 and an equivalent filter to mobil 1 at walmart is the fram extended guard and its around $10.

First off, nice car and congrats. BITCH!

Second, I'm a Mobil1 Synthetic oil believer and user. I have been for many years, actually since they first starting selling the oil in the mid eighties. I have used it in all of my cars and I have never had an oil related engine fail on me. I put over 250k miles on my 1998 Lincoln Navigator, I replaced the tranny in that big ass SUV but it never even had start up knock in it, I told the person that bought it about the oil and at last check a few years ago it was at about 400k and still rolling. Hes still does Mobil1 oil changes.

Now my Cobra, I bought it new in 1996, the first time I changed the oil at 3500 miles with Valvoline 10w30 reg oil, than again at 7k miles. At 10k miles I went to Mobil1, at 130k miles the motor let go, I sprayed a little too much N20 in it and a head lifted and it hydro-locked the motor, of course once I took it apart the engine was in great shape, so much so that when Manny at HPP gave me back my heads after being P&P and new cams assembled he asked me how many miles it had on it, he couldn't believe it because the valvetrain and the heads had very little wear on them and no sludge build up or discoloration.
Now on my 2012 GT, they are supposed to come with Motorcraft Synthetic blend oil in it from the factory and the 8 quart capacity is supposed to give you extended life, but I'm with Kungfuhamster (lol), I changed it the first time at 5k (Motorcraft Syn-blend), it was still in good shape not very dirty, probably could have gone to 7.5k miles, maybe 10k. I just changed it again at 8800, only because I was going to S.A. and wanted good MPG., but the next oil change I will be switching over to Mobil1 @ 13k miles. And then I will watch it and see how clean it stays...
Thanks for the info. I was a grumpy person for a while cause my ex-bitch of a wife made me sale my mustang a while back so I was without one for a long time. So now I'll probably be a lot nicer about your cowboys, well until JJ does some dumbass shit which you know he will.
