Transmission Question.

What are the signs to look for on Automatics. What gears tend to go first? Thanks for any help on this in advance.

Depends on the car really. Reverse likes to give out on Honda and dodge. GM likes to default to 2nd gear with no reverse. Ford has a tendency to lose all but 1st gear, or lose just 1st gear. Signs include shuddering, delayed shifts, too soft of a shift, too firm of a shift, burnt fluid, etc.

Go WOT from a dig. If any of the gears slip, the clutches are bad. Check the tranny oil. If it smells/looks burnt, dont buy.
