6.4 is the new 6.0. Diesel shops love them both equally. Not a huge fan of fixing the 7.3 with 220 on it, but if its a good truck then fix it. It will be cheaper than a payment/or cash outta pocket for someone else's nightmare.

Honestly the 7.3 is the only ford diesel I would own. I would only take a cummins, like cliftons truck if it were me. The 7.3's are excellent motors.2005 M3 Vert with TSW rims

unless you get a 6.7 CumminsOriginally posted by 8mpg View PostPlease... with a Cummins you dont need to modify it to be reliable. And honestly, with the cost of the truck, you shouldnt have to dump another $1000-2500 to make it reliable and void your warranty at the same time.
you can do a DPF delete/tune on most trucks for $500-800

And according to you, if it doesn't have a cummins underneath it then it must be garbage. Like I said you've probably never been in a tuned 6.4. So until you do, you know nothing about these 6.4 and shouldn't voice your so call opinion on them.Originally posted by 8mpg View PostWhat do you know? Change to a Air dog II system and change your fuel filter every 15k miles you will probably never have a problem out of the fuel system. Yes, bone stock the 6.4 is a scary engine to own. But if you get rid a couple of stuff then it is a very stout engine that can haul some ass that gets good mpg and can be very dependable.Originally posted by greenbullitt View PostI have spent more than enough time around them. I dont feel comfortable enough with the fuel systems to own one. They run great, but I wouldnt want one. Oh, and the rocker assys are junk.2010 F-350 6.4L SRW CC 4X4

doesn't hold a candle to the cummins engine as far as reliability, but the 7.3 doesn't hold a candle to shit as far as performance

It's been a year and a half now since I sold my 5.9 common rail, and I am starting to miss owning a diesel. For the ~10-years prior I had nothing but diesels as my DD's, but I also had a need for them back then. I really don't tow anything much anymore, except the car trailer on occasion and the 1/2 ton does okay for no more distance than I usually go...also have several buddies I can borrow from if need-be. Nevertheless, I'd still like to have another one eventually....just not sure at all what I'd buy next time....maybe a Durmax simply b/c I've never had one.70' Chevelle RagTop

I have respect for other motors, but you are just a moron. You shouldnt need to delete anything, change the fuel system or anything to have a reliable truck.Originally posted by Badass2000GT View PostAnd according to you, if it doesn't have a cummins underneath it then it must be garbage. What the fuck does it change if I have ridden in a tuned truck? WOW..its fast. That doesnt change anything about reliability for a $50,000 truck

You're the fucking idiot. Anyone with newer trucks if it's dodge, chevy, or ford if anyone want's to make their truck reliable they will delete the emission shit. Yes, even your precious cummins has emissions shit on it now. And if dodge owners want their brand new 50k plus truck to be reliable then you have to delete the emission shit.Originally posted by 8mpg View PostI have respect for other motors, but you are just a moron. Why spend 40-50k on a truck just to turn around and dump another 1500 or so to make it reliable? Much less the fuel systems are dawn expensive, the 2 trucks in our fleet that the fuel system shit on had filters changed at every 5k miles."It's another burrito, it's a cold Lone Star in my hand!"

Blame it on the government for us have to spend that much to make it reliable. Every truck has to meet the emission. I agree I think it is stupid too that you have to spend that much money but that is what we have to do to make these new trucks better and reliable.Originally posted by dee View PostWhy spend 40-50k on a truck just to turn around and dump another 1500 or so to make it reliable?
