I have a 93 coupe with a 5.0 in it and I was wondering what cam would be good to run in it. It has 1.7 rockers and a set of gt40 heads. It also has a bbk ssi intake on it. I thought about a tfs stage 2 cam or an f cam. But I'm not sure cause of the rockers. Thanks in advance for any advise.

The TFS 2 will not work unless you want the valves and pistons to have a meeting. A lot of guys have had really good success with similar combinations as you and were running the TFS 1 cam and also the old Powermax grinds, 2030 & 2031. Good torque and midrange and still have some top end to 5800 or so.Originally posted by Mustang87t View PostI have a 93 coupe with a 5.0 in it and I was wondering what cam would be good to run in it. You can keep the 1.7 s. Old school: B-cam, E-cam. I looked into the Lunati 51014 (nice sounding cam) and the TFS 1. I have 1.7s, performer heads GT40 tubular intake and all the other bolt-ons. I stayed with the stock cam. I'm at 261/305 with the stock cam, running 14 degrees of timing.Originally posted by Mustang87t View PostWhat other cams might be good for what I'm running?

coming from the guy that said mike wasnt going to make more that 300 ftlbs with his new build.... What do you know about this stock cam?Originally posted by majorownage View Post+1
Not many cams can beat the torque of the stock cam.
With gt40s he can still gain some power and retain good torque through the band.1993 Vibrant Red Cobra #1741.

The stock cam leaves a lot of power on the table, it's good torque down low but anything above 4500-5000 is dead. That's coming from what it does with stock intake and e7s. With the bbk si and gt40s it would leave more power on the table. I'd say atleast 30+hp from a cam swap could be gained.Originally posted by majorownage View PostComing from a guy who has an e303 cam and gets PULLED by Mike's car.

I have a stock 93 cobra with an e303 which is the way it was bought. Weight plays a huge factor. If i was worried about pulling someone this car would be built with the heads i sold him and a turbo but im not. Like i said it was bought that way and will be built the right way when i get to it.Originally posted by majorownage View PostComing from a guy who has an e303 cam and gets PULLED by Mike's car.
so where my car comes into this equation i have no clue.... And yes i know taking a stock cam with 1.7s on gt40s can yield great results bit that is with some serious intake massaging and cleaning up the exhaust ports
